who are You??? Wakime Hauser- finding yourself during difficult times
Did you have a choice about being born?
Did you hand pick your parents?
Did you select your genetic make up?
Do you control your future?
All of us should have answered "no" to the first three questions. The last question should be "YES", however some of us may have answered that question no. So, who are you? This is a question I ask your myself daily. The answer changes often. There are days in which I do not know who I am. I am in constant progression, therefore I am changing. I like to think it is always a positive change, but with the good comes the bad. When you look deep into your soul, you may discover that you are only what others have made you. Your parents, friends, teachers, social media, significant others and even our children often dictate who and what we are and or become. I knew this was true of me when I started trying to raise my kids the way my parents raised me. There comes a point in everyone's life when they begin to wonder... who they are... I am a failure, a student, a teacher, a loser, a winner, a father, a son, a brother, a friend, a mentor, and most important I am free. Free to alter my future, free to change my outlook and free to be who I want to be. That is why I ask myself all the time....who am I?
Fitness has allowed me to rediscover myself. If you too want to make a change or rediscover yourself using fitness as a tool you will discover who you are during the process. My favorite excuses!!! I am not a morning person, I have to have caffeine, I do not have time, and I can not afford to go to the gym. PEOPLE MAKE TIME FOR WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO THEM! FACTS !!! What is a morning person? You just do not want to get up. Caffeine is not a requirement to live. Time , time you can always find time. People buy what they feel is important. Let me spend $350 on a outfit for the all white party, but I can not afford 10 dollars a month to join planet fitness. Trust me I know you might not want to pay that ten dollars a month when you only go ten times a year. Discovering who you are is the easiest way to enable your true potential. Think about this....how much of your true potential have you reached? It is time for you to find out. Give your maximum effort at everything you do from now on till the end of time. When you do so progress will be made often, goals will be achieved frequently and you will discover who you are. Begin living your life as if each moment is an opportunity for greatness. Albert Einstein said " Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. There comes a time when a person must discover themselves and begin to change some bad habits and excuse making to unlock the door and enter the world of chances. Finding out who you are at times comes when you hit the bottom and have to work extremely hard just to get even. Then you realize where you could have been if you always put forth that type of effort and energy. Remember, reaching a goal is just the beginning of a new goal.
FITNESS HAS CHANGED MY LIFE IN A VARIETY OF POSITIVE WAYS AND I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCES WITH THOSE WHO WANT TO LIVE A LIFE THAT EMBRACES EACH CHALLENGE AND DOES NOT LET FEAR DETOUR OPPORTUNITIES IN THE FUTURE.
